Lexi + Michael // A Boise Greenhouse Engagement Among the Flowers

Lexi and Michael are genuinely one of a kind. They love getting dressed up, they love laughing, and they make photographing them an absolute joy. What makes this session extra special? They were the very first couple I ever photographed. So when they said yes to letting me take them out again, I was beyond excited.

We headed to Edwards Greenhouse in Boise, and the light in that place is just incredible. We laughed a lot. We tried some fun poses. And honestly, the whole session turned out better than I could have hoped.

Oh, and there was one more surprise tucked into this session. Keep reading.

Why Edwards Greenhouse is Perfect for Boise Engagement Photos

Edwards Greenhouse is not your typical engagement photo spot. Most people think of open fields or mountain backdrops when they think of Boise. But this place offers something totally different.

Here is what makes it work so well:

  • Natural light everywhere. The glass roof lets in soft, warm sunlight that photographers dream about.

  • Layers of texture. Corrugated metal walls, wooden pergolas, flower arches, and lush green plants, all in one spot.

  • Color without being overwhelming. Purple and pink blooms, green foliage, earthy wood tones. It all works together without feeling too busy.

  • Indoor and outdoor options. If the weather is being weird, you have inside backup options that still look gorgeous.

It is a garden center, yes. But it shoots like a romance movie.

A Look at Lexi + Michael's Engagement Session

Walking Through the Garden

The session started outside. Lexi wore a green polka dot dress with a red cardigan, and Michael kept it clean in a white shirt and jeans. They walked hand in hand through the sunny garden paths, laughing and sneaking looks at each other. Real, relaxed, totally them.

Getting Creative With Light and Shadows

We found a wooden pergola with slatted roof panels, and the light coming through was something else. The shadows landed perfectly across both of them. We also used a corrugated metal wall for some fun, more editorial-style shots. The mirrored effect in one of those photos is still one of my favorites from the whole session.

Lying in the Sun

One of my favorite things to do during a session is get couples on the ground. It sounds weird, but it works every time. Lexi and Michael lay back-to-back in the warm sunlight, heads touching, eyes closed. The shadows from the overhead panels made the whole thing feel like a painting. Calm. Beautiful. Easy.

Inside the Greenhouse

We wrapped up inside the greenhouse, surrounded by hanging baskets and rows of potted plants. Lexi swapped into a brown wide-brim hat and it pulled the whole look together perfectly. We sat on the ground between the plant rows, stood near a wooden-framed mirror, and stole a few quiet moments near a flower arch. The light streaming through the glass made every single frame look warm and glowing.

5 Tips for Planning Your Own Edwards Greenhouse Engagement Session in Boise

If you are thinking about booking your own Boise greenhouse engagement photos, here is what I would tell you:

  1. Go in the morning or late afternoon. The light through the glass roof is warmest at those times. Midday can get harsh.

  2. Wear colors that work with greenery. Earthy tones, soft reds, muted greens, and cream all look great. Avoid neon or very busy patterns.

  3. Plan for both indoor and outdoor spots. Edwards Greenhouse has both. Using a mix of locations gives your gallery way more variety.

  4. Bring a prop or personal detail. Lexi and Michael brought ultrasound photos. That one detail made the session unforgettable. A letter, a book, a blanket, anything personal works.

  5. Relax and just talk to each other. The best shots happen when couples stop thinking about the camera. Walk, laugh, tell a story. Let me handle the rest.
